Please remember that Good News Preschool follows Calvert County Schools for
weather closings; however, if the Public schools are delayed, we will be closed.

 

April will be busy for Good News Preschool! Our units will be Dinosaurs and Insects. The letters for the
month are Vv, Ww, / Xx. The numbers are 17, 18 and star is our shape. We will experiment with an erupting volcano, tar pits and dinosaur nests with hatching dinosaur eggs!!! Can that be?

As we move into our insect unit, we will study the life cycle of the butterfly from egg to butterfly. We will witness the transformation as the eggs hatch and grow into caterpillars and build their chrysalises and burst into the world as beau.ful butterflies!!! We will practice graphing by sorting and discussing our favorite butterflies.

Songs you may hear include:
"There Will be Flowers in the Garden in the Spring", "Sing a Song of Sunshine", "Dino Pokey",/ and "1-2-3 Triceratops". We will practice "Swamp Jumping" and fine tune our positioning skills with dinosaurs on a stick! Rhythm will be another focus of our movement activities as we use our hands for clapping, our feet for stomping and musical instruments to listen and repeat rhythmic patterns.

Work continues on the butterfly garden. Once the soil is prepared, we will plant, water and watch God's
work!!


Evaluations will begin in early May.

 


The Good News Preschool is a ministry of Jesus the Divine Word Parish in Huntingtown, Maryland.  It is a non-profit organization.  The program is accited by the Maryland State Department of Education.  Our preschool is open to all of God’s little children, with first preference being given to the parishioners of Jesus the Divine Word Parish.  The program is then open to members of the other Catholic parishes in the area, and then the general public.

                    It is the mission of Good News Preschool to promote the social, emotional, cognitive, motor and spiritual development of three and four year old children within a fun-filled, loving, Catholic atmosphere.  Our learning environment is one in which the uniqueness of each child is emphasized, while offering developmentally appropriate activities in the instructional areas of Math, Science, Reading Readiness, Social Studies, and Religion.
