Faith Formation is a continuous program of religious education, from Kindergarten through 7th Grade and into adulthood. Our goal at Jesus the Divine Word is to help the students discover a personal relationship with Jesus through salvation history, the sacraments and Holy Scripture. It is our desire that the training they receive here will be taken with them throughout their lives. Students participate in a loving, nurturing, and age-appropriate environment while attending Faith Formation. Our teaching endeavors to supplement the Roman Catholic teachings that the child receives in the home.
Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion consists of two years of formation; traditionally beginning in the first grade. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is also two years beginning in eighth grade and, if requirements are fulfilled, the sacrament is received at the end of ninth grade.
Students at all levels learn doctrine, traditions and biblical principles through teaching, study, discussions, drama, music, video and hands-on crafts (or object lessons). Children also learn by observation and modeling; therefore, staffing each classroom with qualified volunteers who are committed to the spiritual development of your child is important to our program.
